Student counselling is an essential part of education planning and Regency Travel & Education gives year-round advice and guidance to students wishing to study English or receive general education overseas. Our counselling service is available to students of all ages planning short-term or long-term study.
We work with scores of schools, colleges and universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China and Singapore, and constantly seek new institutions and courses. Our education counsellors are trained to help you choose the course or school that suits you best. Below are answers to questions you are most likely to ask about our service. If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
How Do I Get Started?
Phone, fax or send us an email to make an appointment with one of our counsellors. At your first meeting, you will be asked to register with us by writing your personal details on a simple form. At the same time, you should indicate what you wish to study. Are you looking for a school, a college or a university? Do you have a school or a country in mind?.
What If I Am Unsure Of What I Want?
Nothing to worry about. When you talk to our counsellors they will help you clarify what you are looking for.
What Do I Need To Bring To The Interview?
Bring with the transcripts of you school and/or college results, testimonials and other documents you consider useful. If you have only originals, we will return them to you after making copies for our records.
What Will It Cost Me To See You?
You pay only a registration fee of 2,000 baht if you wish to study in Australia, New Zealand or Singapore and 4,000 baht if you wish to study in the US, UK or Canada. The fee covers the time our counsellors give you and the cost of telephone calls, faxes and email sent to the schools. These charges are approved by TIECA, the Thailand International Education Consultants Association of which we are a member.
Why Should I Choose Regency and Not Another Agent?
You should only come to Regency if you believe we can serve you well or better than other people offering a similar service. Consult someone who has used our service. Over the last 25 years, we have serviced thousands of students many of whom have returned to us.
Are Regency's Education Counsellors Better Than Others?
We would like to think so. Our education counsellors are qualified and trained for their jobs. They are committed to giving you sound advice and helping you to decide, and not to impose their views on you.
How Do You Know Which Schools Are Good?
We recommend you only those schools that have a good record and reputation. We evaluate not only the qualifications of their academic and non-academic staff, but also their understanding of the social and cultural values of foreign (Thai) students. We look at their teacher-student ratios, their classroom sizes, IT availability, library facilities, teaching aids, sports, recreational and social amenities. We look at their total environment, the quality of their teaching and the soundness of the host families they engage. We like schools which are committed to the overall development of their students instead of merely concentrating on classroom teaching.
How Do You Find These Out?
We have dialogues with our partner schools and universities and check on their claims. We get feedback from our returned students, their parents, and the teacher-escorts we send with our summer course students. Most important of all, our counsellors make periodic visits to the institutions to update their knowledge.
Do You Recommend Schools that are Expensive?
Our policy is to find you the school best suited to your academic needs and your budget. Bear in mind however that while good education generally does not come cheap, expensive education is not always the best education. We would a balance between the two.
Can You Guarantee To Get Me Into The School I Want?
Whether or not you will are accepted by the school, college or university you want depends on your meeting their entry requirements. If you do not, you could still study to qualify.
Do I Have To Accept Your Recommendation?
Not at all. The decision must always be yours in consultation with your parents as the case may be. We advise and recommend, YOU decide.
Will You Help Me Find Suitable Accommodation ?
Most certainly. We first ask you what you like (hostel, host family, etc.) and pass on your request to the school which you will be attending. If you choose to stay with a family, you can ask for having boys and girls in your age group and pets like cats and dogs.
Do You Help With Visa Application And Travel Arrangements?
Yes we do. As soon as the school concerned accepts you, we will help you apply for a visa, book your flight and attend to your other travel needs. We are a one-stop shop for education and travel.
Will I Be Met On Arrival Overseas?
You will be met on arrival and taken to your accommodation either by a school representative, your host family or by both. Unless of course you choose to make your own arrangements.
Does My Relationship With Regency End After I Go Abroad?
Not unless you want it to end. We track your progress and welfare and keep your parents informed. Some parents appoint us as guardians to their children, in preference to appointing someone overseas. Whatever the decision, we will monitor your progress and general well-being.
If you have other questions, do not hesitate to ask us. Education is a serious business and you should pay great attention to every single aspect before you make your decision. The money you spend should be treated as an investment for your future career.
