Student counselling is an essential part of education planning and Regency Travel & Education gives year-round help and advice to students wishing to study English or receive general education overseas.Our counselling service is available to students of all ages seeking short term or long term study.
We work with scores of schools, colleges and universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, and we are constantly looking for good study programmes and institutions.Our education counsellors are trained to help you choose what suits you best. Below are answers to questions that are generally asked. If you have other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.We would like you to get the maximum benefit from our counselling service.
How do I Get Started?
Phone, fax or email us to make an appointment with one of our counsellors. At your first meeting with us, you will be asked to register your personal details on a simple form.You should also indicate if you wish only to learn English or to enrol in a school, college or university abroad. Tell us if you have a particular school or country in mind.
What if I am not Sure of what I Want?
Nothing to worry about. Our counsellors will help you to determine what you are looking for and find you a school that suits your abilities and your budget.
What do I Need to Bring to the Interview?
Bring along your birth certificate, certificates of your school and/or college grades, testimonials, and other documents you consider helpful. We will make copies from them and return the originals to you.
What will It Cost Me?
You only have to pay a registration fee of 2,000 baht if you plan to study in Australia, New Zealand or Singapore and 4,000 baht if you wish to study in the US, UK or Canada. The fee covers counselling time, the cost of telephone calls, faxes, email, etc. Counselling fees are recommended by TIECA, the Thailand International Education Consultants Association of which we are a member.
Why should I Choose Regency and Not Another Agent?
You are free to choose any agent you like. You should only come to Regency if you believe we can serve you well or better than other agents.Talk to someone who has used our services.We have serviced thousands of students since 1980. Many come back to us for their educational needs.
Are Regency’s Counsellors Better than Others?
We would like to think so.Our education counsellors are qualified and trained for their jobs. They are committed to giving you advice and leave you to decide.
How do You Know which Schools are Good?
We recommend only schools that have a good track record and reputation.We assess the qualifications of their academic and non-academic staff and their understanding of and sensitivity to the social and cultural values of foreign (Thai) students.We look at their teacher-student ratio, their classroom sizes, IT availability, library facility, teaching aids, sports, recreational and social amenities. We look at their total environment, the quality of their teaching and the soundness of the host families they engage.We choose schools that are committed to the overall development of their students instead of concentrating solely on classroom teaching.
How do You Find these Out?
We take steps to verify the claims of our partner schools and universities in a number of ways.When their representatives visit us in Bangkok, we ask them probing questions.We get feedback from our returned students, their parents, and the teacher-escorts we send with our summer course students. Most important of all, our counsellors make periodic visits to our partner schools abroad to get first hand knowledge.
Are the Schools that You Recommend more Expensive than Others?
Not necessarily so.We try to find you the school best suited to your academic needs and your budget.Bear in mind that while good education generally does not come cheap, cost alone does not always guarantee good teaching.It is possible to have a good education without incurring excessive cost.
Can You Get Me into the School or University that I Want?
If you meet their entry requirements, we will help you to gain acceptance. If you don’t have the qualifications, we will show you how to qualify. Most universities have limited places and your success will depend on your competitiveness.
Do I have to Accept your Recommendation?
Not at all.You should decide in conjunction with your parents.We advise and recommend, you decide.
Will You Help Me Find Accommodation Overseas?
Yes.We first find out if you prefer to stay in a hostel, with a host family, or in a private apartment and pass on your request to the school you will be attending.If you choose to stay with a family, you will be asked if you have preferences like pets, children, etc.
Do You Help with my Visa Application and Travel Arrangements?
Yes, we do.As soon as the school accepts you, we will help you apply for a visa, book your flight and get you a ticket, and help with your other travel needs.Our company provides both education and travel service.
When do I need to Pay the Fees etc.?
The moment you are accepted by the school concerned, you will receive an invoice from them.Payment should then be made.
Will I be Met on Arrival Overseas?
Yes, you will be met on arrival and taken to your accommodation either by a school representative or your host family or by both, unless of course you choose to make your own arrangements.
Does my Relationship with Regency End after I Begin my Course?
Not unless you want it to end.We keep track of your progress and welfare and keep your parents informed.Some parents appoint us as guardians to their children, instead of appointing someone overseas.Whatever your decision, we will still monitor your progress and general well-being.
