International Legal Counselors Thailand, ILCT, were confronted with a fast growing organization requiring well coordinated internal communications and a well-organized electronic documents. Cyberworks Consulting proposed to them the development of an Intranet and Document Management System to achieve these organization requirements.
Corporate Communications Intranet
The custom developed Intranet allows ILCT staff to add, edit and view relevant news, meeting schedules and upcoming events. They may also share ideas on collaborative projects and current issues using the web board. A staff directory function allows everyone to view contact and organisation details of other staff in the office.
Document Management System
The Document Management System, developed in Visual Basic, consists of two modules:
The first module is for the systems administrator to add, edit and delete documents and their properties. Functions include the ability to save to the central server, documents in several formats (doc, xls, pdf, jpg, gif etc.) and specify properties such as name, author name, client name, and keywords. Administrators can search for document(s) using search filters, edit document properties, delete documents, and save any document to a local PC.
The second module is for staff (lawyers) use. Cyberworks Consulting developed an add-in function to Microsoft Word, enabling lawyers to save Word documents to the document database on the server. When saving the document all necessary properties are specified to allow all staff in the organization to use a convenient search function to locate the appropriate document.
